V.C. Vijaya Kumar filed complaint against Sony India on Feb 13, 2019
Purchased sony tv model No: kdl-**w***d for Rs. **,***/- in hyderabad on **-**-**** with an intention of hassle-free viewing for more than * years or so even though many other companies are marketing the same configuration tvs with much lesser prices than the sony. On **-**-****, our tv suddenly developed problems in the form of led blinking in red colour without any display. As such, contacted the sony customer care service on **-**-**** and made the complaint. Later, the technician came on **-**-**** for checking. The technician has said that the display panel board had problem. He further said that since the TV has been purchased more than * years (actually * years and * months only), the customer has to bear around Rs.**,***/- for replacement of the display panel board.
Later on, requested the Sony Management through e-mail i.e., sonyindia.care@ap.sony.com on **-**-**** for repairing of TV with free of cost since it is a manufacturing defect. In reply to this, on **-**-****, the Sony Management has informed simply that failure may happen for the electronic products in the course of time and as your product is not covered under Warranty, the repair cost of Rs. **,***/- is to be borne by the customer.
The reply from the sony management has mentally agonized me, since the problem is mainly due to the manufacturing defect and not physical damage. What is the use of purchasing such a brand image TV for Rs.**,***/- that is lasting for * years only as the same configuration TVs from other companies (costing Rs.**,***/-) are giving better performances and lasting longer than the sony tvs.
