I had hired an Uber rental on **.**.** for * hours. I took the cab to two places, both in Andheri East. After my second meeting was over, I tried calling the driver Shoed Qureshi, but his number was switched off. Tried several time, but with same result. I went to the spot where he said he exactly dropped me. He wasn't there too, but fortunately after a minute he arrived there. He informed me his mobile phone got stolen as he dozed inside the car & so, his phone was switched off (apparently by the thief) I advised him to lodge a police complain and even accompanied him to the MIDC Police Station. After a quick visit to the station he said no complain was lodged as the police insisted on the EMIE number, which he didn't have then.
I asked him to drop me back to my apartment block (from where he picked me up) On reaching I tried to close the trip, but couldn't, as that would happen only after the driver closed it with the closing password. He asked me for the password & assured he'll call up Uber & close the trip. I paid him in cash what the Uber App suggested for the * hour rental (Rs. ****) & some tips (out of sympathy), a total of Rs. ****.
The Uber app meanwhile was still running my trip. So I immediately sent a message through the app & explained the situation & requested them to close the trip. It took much longer for them to close it and they sent me a charge of Rs. ****. Since then I've been trying to explain to them the situation, but as usual, Uber replies with templates, with random sender names.
Surprisingly the spot shown on the app where the trip ended (Dattani Plaza) was a spot that was never passed during any part of the trip.
One of their many replies says 'we noticed that you have shared the End trip PIN with the driver-partner. Since you have accepted to share the pin and end the trip, we are unable to provide a refund here' This sounded ridiculous as I can end the trip only by sharing the pin.
Now they've even stopped replying to my mails. Its surprising that a faceless company is being allowed to operate in this country and there's no one ready to speak and resolve a problem. I've been a patron of Uber for years and use their rentals few times every month. Its incredible to experience their apathy to a genuine problem.
Kindly help me bring them to book.
