Royal Enfield - Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Anniversary Edition Internal Fuel Tank Rusting at 747 km Warranty Cla

I am filing this complaint regarding a serious manufacturing defect in my Royal Enfield Interceptor *** (***th Anniversary Edition) and the refusal of the authorized dealer to process my valid warranty claim.

Issue:

I discovered significant internal rusting inside the fuel tank at an odometer reading of only *** km. This is unacceptable for a premium, limited-edition motorcycle and clearly indicates a manufacturing defect, such as improper internal tank coating.

When I approached the dealer (RR Automotive, Indore), their service team (Mr. Umar) refused to honor the warranty claim, stating the rusting was due to “moisture” and “infrequent usage.” This explanation is technically incorrect and unreasonable, as fuel tanks are designed to withstand normal environmental moisture. Internal rusting at such low mileage cannot be attributed to owner negligence.

During this visit, I requested support for the fuel tank rusting issue. I was told the dealer would “try” to contact Royal Enfield India, but no action was taken. My follow-up calls to the service advisor have gone unanswered, and the motorcycle was returned to me without any resolution.

As per the Ride Sure Extended Warranty terms (Section *-w), defects arising from manufacturing inconsistency should be covered. Internal fuel tank rusting at under *** km is not a wear-and-tear issue; it is a defect in material quality or coating.
