I want to raise a serious concern regarding my Royal Enfield Classic ***, serviced at Acclaim Motors,
Yelahanka (Bangalore), which resulted in a major engine seizure and electrical failure immediately after the latest authorized service.
**rd September ****:
I submitted my bike to Acclaim Motors, Yelahanka due to engine oil leakage.
Service Advisor: Mr. Gowtham.
Major engine work was carried out, costing around ₹**,*** (including AMC).
I was advised to ride below ** km/h for *** km and return for follow-up servicing.
**th October ****:
I returned after completing *** km for the advised follow-up service.
The wiring harness was replaced and I was charged an additional ₹*,***.
I was informed that the bike was now in perfect condition and fit for long rides.
However, the service was handled by a different mechanic, not the one who worked on the engine previously,
even though he was available that day.
*st November **** (Saturday):
I started a trip from Bangalore to Hampi. Shortly after leaving Bangalore, the headlight, horn, and indicators
failed completely, likely due to faulty wiring during the recent service.
Around ** km into the ride, I noticed engine oil leakage again. I shared images with Mr. Gowtham via
WhatsApp — he informed me it was “chain oil,” which I doubted. The leak intensified, covering the silencer
and rear tyre with oil.
On his advice, I visited a local mechanic who tightened the drain bolt using gum. Despite this, oil continued to
leak. Mr. Gowtham assured me it was not serious and told me to return to Bangalore.
Unfortunately, near Vijayanagar University Circle (Hospet), the bike suddenly made a loud noise and the
engine and rear wheel seized completely at high speed, almost causing a serious accident.
I immediately called Mr. Gowtham, but my calls were diverted and not answered.
*nd November ****:
With no RE service centre responding nearby, a local mechanic towed the bike to his workshop, opened the
engine, and found severe internal damage due to lack of engine oil — including the bearing, crankshaft,
piston, and clutch assembly. He estimated a minimum repair cost of ₹**,*** just to make it rideable.
I then contacted the Acclaim Motors Manager, who was very supportive and advised me to call RE Roadside
Assistance (RSA). RSA informed me that no technician was available, so I self-towed the bike to Rajalakshmi
Royal Enfield, Hospet, where it is currently kept for inspection and repair.
Key Points of Concern
*. The engine oil leak and electrical failure occurred immediately after authorized service.
*. The mechanical and electrical issues were clearly service-related (poor workmanship and inspection).
*. I followed all instructions given by the service advisor, including the ***-km limit before follow-up.
*. I have already paid over ₹**,*** in total, excluding travel, towing, and personal stress.
*. The incident was extremely dangerous, as the engine seized suddenly on a busy highway.
Request for Resolution
Given that this situation clearly resulted from service negligence, I request Royal Enfield to:
*. Repair my bike at no additional cost, replacing all damaged components (engine, piston, crankshaft, clutch,
wiring, etc.) with genuine parts.
*. Provide a detailed service report and cost breakdown of replaced parts and work done.
*. Ensure quality assurance and internal review of the service team involved to prevent such safety risks in the future.
