We bought a Samsung **-inch TV from a dealer in Mumbai about three years ago. Yesterday it suddenly stopped working so I contacted the help centre. A technician came home and said that either the electric panel or the PCB board panel within the TV was not working, and that he'd replace the electrical panel first, and if that didn't work the PCB would be replaced. He then contacted his colleague in spare parts for the cost, and was told that the PCB was not being manufactured any more so if the PCB was faulty, there was nothing I could do. I've seen instances and consumer court orders on the Net where Samsung has stopped making spare parts so that the consumer is forced to buy a new TV. This is ridiculous and unethical. The court has ordered all manufacturers of electronic goods to manufacture spare parts of every good sold for a "reasonable period" of at least ** years. I am waiting to see if the electrical board or the PCB is at fault, but if it's the PCB and my TV becomes useless, I want Samsung to replace it with a new model.
