Croma A Tata Product - Money refunded instrad of replacement asked

I recently bought an AC from Croma online and it was delivered in a very bad condition. The product was damaged and hence I asked for a replacement. I bought the item during the offer period which hosted me **k. When I raised the complaint, the company very conveniently refunded the amount just because now the product cost is **k. On raising the same issue, the customer care executive is asking me to buy a new one at higher price. This is so unfair. Why do these online portal even go on a sale period and make fake promises if they cannot fulfill it?
