I booked (on **/**/****) a GoAir return flight via EaseMyTrip, MCT-BOM-MCT, travel dates **/**/** & **/**/**, costing ₹.*****. GoAir cancelled the flight on MCT-BOM sector on **/**/**** due to citing the reason to be beyond their control.
To claim my refund from EaseMyTrip, I had to cancel the single sector on EaseMyTrip's website, as per their procedures. After I did that on **-Dec, I received an email from GoAir on **-Dec stating that I was eligible for a refund of only ₹.*****. When I contacted EaseMyTrip about it and informed that I had requested only cancellation of one sector & not both, they said "it is in process and we'll update you". After numerous failed attempts to contact GoAir via their email, I took to Twitter & received a response from EaseMyTrip that they have transferred whatever was refunded by GoAir. I have not received any response from GoAir yet.
According to EaseMyTrip's terms & conditions (which they claim are as per GoAir's policy), I'm not allowed to cancel a single sector on my PNR due to applied return fares. There is no other way I can claim my refund without raising a cancellation request on EaseMyTrip's website (the website allows for single sector cancellation!). This means, that a customer ALWAYS ends up losing money, for no fault of the customer, in situations such as these.
I have been stuck in Muscat for over a year now because of COVID, and I couldn't not visit home in India and now they are not even refunding the whole amount. I'm a victim of such a loophole in their policy.
I request you to kindly address this matter so that I'm refunded the right eligible amount. Also, what can be done to ensure that no other customers are wrongfully cheated of their money in such cases?
