Varma Naidu Venkatapathy filed complaint against Cleartrip on Nov 2, 2024
I had booked a property with Cleartrip at a hotel in Puri, Odisha on **th of March. I had to make a request with the hotel and tried searching for the number on Google but couldn't find it. Also came across reviews that the hotel doesn't accept online reservations. Being concerned, I called up Cleartrip customer support. The confirmed me over e-mail and phone stating that they have confirmed directly with the hotel and the reservation is confirmed, not to worry. I had called Cleartrip twice about my concern and both the instances, the assurance didn't change. Trusting Cleartrip I went ahead with my travel plans. On reaching the Hotel on *th April, the hotel bluntly denied my reservation saying that they have stopped taking online reservation since * months. I called Cleartrip for further support. They promptly refunded my booking amount and denied any further support to find another hotel through their extensive network and experience. I was left stranded in a coastal area, mid-afternoon , peak summer without a place to stay. The hotel where I had the booking earlier, didn't even allow my wife to use the toilet for relieving herself. My wife, My * year old daughter and myself had a harrowing time going door to door of every hotel asking them to lend me a room. It took me almost two hours to find a place to stay. More than anyone , my daughter who is not used to the humidity and the temperature at Puri had to endure the whole ordeal. This also led to a verbal altercation between me and my wife. This situation on *th April, spoiled the fun in the entire trip. The grievance cell offered me a **% cashback of the booking fee out of sympathy. I am hereby requesting a compensation and change in hotel onboarding policies of Cleartrip so that no one else experiences the ordeal me and my family went through. The least Cleartrip could have done was to book me another hotel.
