Recently, Uber India updated the app.
The new app charges a fixed rate for a route, irrespective if any deviations.
Issues with the app udpate:
*. The app doesn't clearly tell the customer that surge pricing has been applied. It sometimes gives vague statements that prices might be higher but doesn't say by how much. This is similar to auto rickshaws who refuse to ply by the meter - they charge you any rate they can dream up.
The app used to clearly indicate before that surge pricing has been applied. Ola still does it.
*. You are now charged a flat fare irrespective of the route you take. So if a customer takes the cab driver by a shorter route to avoid traffic, the customer still has to pay the fare for the longer route. Isn't this also unfair?
*. The app clearly indicate when surge pricing is on and by how much (*.*x, *.*x, and so on).
*. The app charges you based on the actual route you took instead of a pre-determined route (that at times is not feasible).
