At the time of taking the housing loan, I was approached by an HDFC Life insurance agent to take a housing insurance (HDFC SL Progrowth Flexi Policy) . It was a very expensive policy *,**,*** INR per annum premium. The agent promised that I need to pay only for * years after which I can opt to stop the payment but the premium will continue for next * years. He even told that I have the option to withdraw too. I took the policy and by September ** ****, I completed my payment for the *th year. The agent who originally sold the premium has left the organization and he gave me a few other colleagues contact number. All of them still saying that it is possible to stop the payment and they will enquire about the procedure. I contacted the customer care in their email service@hdfclife.com. I got a reply that I cannot stop the payment and I have to pay the entire ** years. How can there be so much misinformation and lack of care for a customer? I have always used HDFC back, HDFC housing loan and now insurance too. But HDFC cares least about the customer and the kind of replies I am getting back are vague and against what I was promised. The fund value is very much lower than the total premium I have paid so far. I thought I could at least further loss by stopping the payment and withdraw later if at all the loss is as minimum as possible. But I feel betrayed by HDFC Life with the false promises and a selfish cruel trap they have put me in to. They have trapped me in a selfish way and forcing me to continue the policy for another * years when the policy is already performing very very bad.
