It is not only a mistake but a good example of mis management within Uber system.
Uber India only gives problems most times. We Booked a ride for airport * / * hours before in advance. Around *:** pm a cab was shown with * mins away, then * mins away. Then the cab was struck from *:** till *:**pm with same position with "* min away" inside the locality ( not main rd). We still let him reach the pick up point .
Without seeing any progress when we tried to call him several times from *:**pm onwards, he was cancelling every call. We thought he might be struggling through crowd inside the locality if any.
Driver was also surprisingly silent till we called again at *:** pm and never tried to call back to us.
*:** pm he ultimately picked up and with rude voice said "I was waiting for long at the pick up point and you ppl did not turn up". When asked about what about making a call, he said we were not even responding to his calls. When I said "there is no missed calls in my phone or other phones” and requested him to reach pick up point, immediately he disconnected by ignoring our anxiety and stressed moment. Within few seconds we saw “Trip has been cancelled” from his end. We had very less time left to catch the flight to book and wait for another cab.
My parents got high BP at that moment ( started sweating ) and we started running randomly to catch any running cab by leaving the luggages with the aged parents who were standing long as no option to sit outside at pick up point. They can’t stand at one point beyond few mins.
Still I tried to talk with him but failed. Meantime got a white cab with ***/- as fare ( he also took the advantage our our tensed situation ). Had to take Parents to local doctor same night post return from airport at midnight. Had to pay hefty fee for late arrival at airport. Missed air india managed dinner for flight passengers. Had to buy own dinner at airport. and ***/- for return from airport which would hv been free as we had to cancel previous plan.
Around *;**pm I tried to reach him, he picked up the call. Very politely I asked him in hindi “ What happened with you bhaiya? Any problem with traffic? Any malfunction of the cab?” He didn’t realize that point who I’m. He replied in hindi "Nothing happened, everything ok”. Then I said “ Then what made you not to pick up your passenger at Kalindi few minutes back?” Instantly he disconnected and never accepted calls later.
Uber sent an mail by saying "Here's the receipt for your canceled trip. To compensate drivers for the inconvenience, a fee is charged if you cancel a request * minutes after a driver accepts your ride. A cancellation fee of **.** will be due on your next ride."
This is classic example of Uber India System and Management. On top of such terrible experience Uber system is sending us to compensate for my next trip!.
I'm sure Uber will respond but without proper respect to the victims and value of such traumatic experience.
Please start social media campaign to share our experience with complaint to maximum people and ride sharing users for maximum exposure.
