Ajit Brundavanam filed complaint against Makemytrip on Dec 31, 2019
I booked a flight (Thai Viet jet *** from Bangkok to Phuket) with a higher fare on MakeMyTrip which did not mention that Checkin baggage was not allowed. For every other flight, it was clearly mentioned whenever it was a hand-baggage only fare.
Further, it was only when I noticed the ambiguity in the ticket (which is generated AFTER paying and booking the flight) few hours before the flight in Thailand and contacted MMT, they acknowledged that it is not indeed included and kept blaming the airline carrier for this. After repeated calls with the rep and his supervisor turned out to be pointless because they weren't being helpful at all and only were blaming the airline carrier and suggesting me to buy extra baggage at the airport, while I was incurring international roaming charges, I had no other option but to purchase it at the airline, which caused me additional stress because of the long lines and almost caused me to miss the flight.
My questions are two-fold -
*. There clearly is a case of misinformation on the MMT app/site. They cannot blame the carrier and get away with it if they do not process the information they show, what are they charging a *** rupee convenience fee for booking tickets
*. I would not have faced the same issue if booked through other agents or websites.
I regret choosing MMT for my travel, causing us additional stress with wrongful information and absolutely lax customer service from the day before travel in a foreign land during what was supposed to be a vacation and believe they should be held responsible for this and provide damages for ruining part of the vacation.
