This is with reference to the lost baggage of my husband Mr. Shreesh Jain on **th February **** from Tunisia Airport with Emirates Flight . My husband boarded the flight from New Delhi (India - Indira Gandhi International Airport) to Tunisia Tunis–Carthage International Airport via Dubai (EK S** **th February **** Delhi, India DEL Terminal * DUBAI INTERNATIONAL DXB and EK *** **th February **** DUBAI INTERNATIONAL DXB Tunisia TUN). He had two luggage and out of which one was lost. He reported the issue to the local airport team of Tunisia immediately. Since he is working in the Merchant Navy, he had his scheduled ship boarding on **th morning for the next six months. Due to scarcity of time, he had to purchase all of his stuff again from a local mall in Tunisia. Since he did not have the local currency to purchase, he approached his company for immediate help. This whole hustle created havoc due to mishandling of baggage . A journey which could have been an easy smooth travel turned into a bad experience.
The complaint number shared by Tunisia Airport is TUNEK***** with an assurance that the status can be checked online. In a span of one week, the status is not clear. I enquired the Emirates customer care number (*th March **** ) and I was told to share the address as the luggage was found. Post confirming the address from my husband I tried communicating with the Emirate Customer care team ( *th March **** ) but to my surprise I was informed that it was a different baggage and still it is being searched with a promise for a revert call from Tunisia airport.
After waiting for some time, I did not receive any update from Emirates Staff. I have been asked about the contents in the bag and informed that the emirates have written an email to the TUNIS airport for the status. From the Emirates Airline side, I had received an email for filling a form for compensation on **th Mar **** which was submitted on **th Mar ****.
On *rd emirates wrote this email and denied compensation- "

Dear Mr Jain,
I refer to a baggage claim which was lodged by you at Tunis airport. I regret the inconvenience you experienced when your bag failed to arrive at your destination.
Your baggage claim was referred to our Central Baggage Tracing Unit for extensive tracing to be conducted. However, despite the best efforts of our staff, regrettably, we have been unable to find your bag. Our records show that the bag that you have reported missing was loaded on board the same flight as you travelled on, i.e. on EK*** on ** February ****.
Our records show that your bag was incorrectly taken by another passenger, at Tunis airport.
May I advise that Emirates does not accept liability when passengers collect bags from the baggage carousel, which do not belong to them. The baggage area at Tunis airport is handled by local airport authorities over which Emirates has no jurisdiction.
Therefore, under the above circumstances, we are unable to accommodate your request for compensation of INR**,***.** for the bag that you have claimed as missing.
