- Harassment and unfair business practices of LIC Open
I, a senior citizen of Bharat, applied to LIC for loan against my fully paid policy no.********* in Jan'**. LIC asked me to submit documents physically. As per the Govt's SOPs, the senior citizens should not go in public and risk their lives in the pandemic situation of COVID. I requested LIC to accept them online due to the exceptional pandemic situation. LIC's officer Ms. Parvati acted above law and declared COVID not being national problem. I further requested them to send somebody to my home to collect the documents. After much dilly-dallying, I succumbed and acted against the law and went to LIC office, risking my life, to submit the documents on **/**/**. After submission of documents, LIC disburses loan within * days. Instead, I got a mail after * days expressing sorry for delay and assuring early disbursement, which was Ms, Parvati's master stroke of delaying technique, harassing to the fullest extent, putting last straw on my coffin. Within * hrs of this mail, I rejected their loan by sending an email to them. Despite this LIC forcefully disbursed it next day and now started charging me compounding interest. I had also requested LIC to treat it as withdrawal(rather than a loan) as is being done in case of PPF withdrawals, which has also been rejected. My annual income is less than * lac. Due to LIC's extreme delay, I made alternate arrangement to cater to my requirement timely. So, I can't afford to pay double interest(One on my own arrangement and another on forceful disbursement of LIC). LIC must stop charging me the interest.
