- Fare Lock fraud on makemytrip Open
I used the fare lock feature on MakeMyTrip which they keep publishing on the site when you go to book your tickets; (which itself is a fraud feature at so many levels which I will discuss later.)
Once I paid for fare lock, i received a WhatsApp message, but was not sent a confirmation on email. I also logged into to MakeMyTrip app and didn’t see the booking of fare lock. I felt that my *k+ money has gone down the drain. Luckily since I had the link on WhatsApp which I have shown in the attach email, i clicked on it; but it said that my fare has increased by **k+; which is against how the fare lock is supposed to work.
I called up customer service twice on **th July. First rep was surprised and then told me she will call back; since didn’t. Again i called back, this time the rep, Palak was also surprised, she forced me to go through the booking while promising that my refund will be done for the excess amount. I told her I can bear the loss of *k but **k will not be something that I can bear so I will not go with the booking. She still forced me and as a proof sent me the email which I have attached with this case. Now they did a back turn saying that my booking id is not matching with the fare lock id and which means I am at fault and they will not refund the money, the very next day. (Which felt orchestrated and I pity all the non-technical consumers who accepted this lie and accepted this as their own mistake)
The following are the key areas where MakeMyTrip has cheated:
*. Their inaccessible and nonexistent customer support team (i got the number and contact details through third party sites)
*. Fraud in their app.
*. Painting a rosy picture and cheating customers to go for fare lock – There are a lot of so called “TERMS AND CONDITIONS” which are hidden when pushing the fare lock feature which I only realized after the booking was done, which is another level of deceitfulness.
I can’t see an attach option here; but can send all the emails and documentation that I have sent so far.
