This is regarding the damage and loss of my goods (docket no. *********) in the hands of Gati Courier Services. I hired them on *th March **** to send two hardwood boxes (not plywood) and a wooden temple from Karimganj, Assam to Pune, Maharashtra. I had to drop the goods myself at my own cost to their Karimganj warehouse as they denied home pick-up even after promising one. I was given a docket slip (enclosed herewith) after the full payment of Rs. **** in cash in advance and was promised a ** day assured delivery. By the end of March, while my goods did not arrive I started following up with their customer care who very conveniently informed me that my docket number does not exist and they have no idea where my goods were. They advised me to check with their Karimganj agents which were surely not my responsibility. Anyways after following up for days and calling their people in several locations including Karimganj my goods were finally dispatched on **th April **** more than a month after I dropped them at their Karimganj facility. After much delay and unprofessionalism from their Pune agents, I finally received the consignment on *th May ****. Little did I know that it was just the beginning of my troubles.
They broke one of my wooden boxes completely and had put my goods in a gunny bag which was open from the top and had holes all over. As a result, they have lost a lot of my expensive brass, copper, and bronze ancestral puja items. They damaged the other box as well as the temple so much so that they can’t be used any further. Moreover, due to water seepage inside the wooden boxes, two of my very expensive blankets and a lot of sarees were damaged. All of them hold great economic and emotional value for me. It clearly shows how negligently they have handled my goods and allowed them to get drenched, damaging most of my valuables.
When I raised this issue with them via calls, emails and their online platform, they chose to ignore it for days. Finally, after persistent follow-ups from my end, they said that they cannot compensate me since the shipment was booked under ‘shippers risk’ mode. This is a lie because the original receipt (attached here) that I have doesn’t have this particular condition ticked. That means they left my goods under unfavourable condition damaged them and created a fake docket to avoid any penalty. I tried to talk to them and even said that I would seek resolution at the consumer court if they don’t compensate me. But they chose to ignore.
It has been around two and a half months of harassment and I have no other option but to lodge a complaint against them. I have attached here the necessary photos and documents. I will be highly obliged if you can kindly resolve this issue.
