i am posting this message just to tell that please don't buy any package through from makemytrip.com. once you pay for the trips, you are on your own.the whole point of going through an travel agency is to make the travel experience less troublesome. however, they take the payment and puts up the customers in third class joints in holidays packages. they promise to make every holiday "extra special” but they will book the reservations in the most pathetic class less hotels. Hotel that give the cheapest deals on the net are blindly selected without verifications. since we the gullible tourists have put full faith in them, we have no option but to lump it after having reached the destination. we chose mmt over thomas cook and booked a package to north east through makemytrip. we clearly mentioned to have atleast * star property and they shared the hotels details mentioning that these are mmt specially recommended hoels(pictures shown on websites were absolutely opposite to what we got). our first stop was gangtok, which took * hours to reach from bagdogra airport and was ** mins away from the main city. on reaching, we were aghast at the state of the hotel room that was given to us. The bathroom was in bad state with things all broke, especially the lights and telvision. the room was not cleaned, the hotel itself was dirty.i have my doubts on the “certified three star status of that hotel” seeing the class that it was maintaining. when we reported, hotel staff insisted on a change of room, which was of no use as all the rooms were of similar condition.
the next day as per plan everybody got up early and were waiting for driver, but we got to know that there would not be constant driver for whole journey drivers would be changing on daily basis and there was local cab service, whom the driver was employed under.when we cross checked with mmt,they refused to be involved and was never of any help.we were somehow managing to cope up with this terrible service. we got to know that there would be a hatchback car(waganor) for hillside journey, keeping * luggages and * backpaxck.we complained about this but no body respondes to us..there was a clear disconnect between mmt and cab services.in short, a much to confusing experience, and the fine print says mmt isn't liable for anything. so don't book with them! better to go with one company and one driver who own that one vehicle.
on third day, we had to travel from gangtok to pelling.In pelling, it was a day wasted as we reached city by the time when market was about to shut down and had less than an hour to see the sight seeing and couldn't see it completely.basically pelling was totally a wasted trip as we weren't able to do anything properly and were just tired travelling in car from one place to another.travel itinerary was changed on adhoc basis. itinerary mentioned rimbi waterfalls, khecheopalri lake and pemayangtse monastery before reaching darjeeling.on the morning when we were about to embark, the driver took us to kenchenjeunga waterfall, which was such waste of time.this made most of us feel cheated as we were there to see as many places of interest as possible however driver denied to take us to these places.
our forth day was again wasted in travelling and we reached darjelling by *. driver dropped us * km before the hotel and asked to take a local taxi to reach hotel. this was highly annoying and unprofessional behavior.
to irritate us further,they didnot share driver details on last day for our drop from darjelling to bagdogra airport.i and my friends were so much traumatised and were really felt helpless,frustrating part was that I had tried to contact concerned persons through the given no(as I was not having any another traceble no) they kept me on hold for hrs. after wasting * hour on making calls, i finally got sms stating that they were busy in arranging car for us.i was taken aback at the lack of concern and the casualness at which my concern was being handled.it has been disappointing and highly unprofessional approach of agents for not providing clarity. i explained them that it would take * hour to reach airport and had to have driver's details handy. however,there was no reply at all. i finally made a call to Anuradha who booked package initially. i expected the team at mmt to take the firm measures to ensure that this kind of nuisance doesn't trouble travelers who book a trip with them. but they could not resolve the matter even after repeated communication.they spoiled my trip and wasted my money.
throughout the tour the tour manager were conspicuous by their absence. Queries/Complaints to them over phone were not taken seriously and we were pretty much left at the mercy of the drivers.
on the whole, i was disappointed with the trip. a major reason why people go with mmt is their organization/coordination of local tours, which was very unprofessional and ridiculous this time. if its only booking flight and hotel why should I go with mmt?
