Respected Sir,
My cellphone Redmi Note * (Black, **GB) bearing IMEI #*************** was purchased on **-**-**** and has * year warranty. Less than * year into it's life my battery then expanded and the screen started to open up from the sides due to this. I visited the Mi Service Centre at Race Course Circle, Vadodara on **-**-**** to have this problem fixed. The service centre informed me that even though the phone has * year warranty the battery is only * months warranty, fair enough.
The real issue begins after this, when I took delivery back from the Service centre. There was a bit of flickering on the screen on **-**-**** & **-**-**** but it stopped for a couple of days after. Since **-**-**** it has been incessantly flickering and I finally revisited the store on **-**-**** to bring to the attention of the company this issue that cropped up only after the battery replacement.
Much to my surprise and shock, the executive there told me that because there is some water damage and this will not be fixed under warranty. Firstly, in Vadodara the humidity is barely anything that would cause moisture damage, and on top of that you can see clearly see that there is no visible water damage. On top of that I am not being given back my phone because I refuse to pay a charge of *** rupees which firstly is not valid as the phone was damaged by the service centre after battery issue. And secondly my warranty is still in force so why should I pay to have my phone checked for a fault that is not mine.
I want this matter to be immediately resolved and I want possession of my phone which is rightfully my property, or else I am afraid I will be filing a formal complaint in the Consumer Protection Forum of India against Mi. I look forward to you co-operation in this regard.
