Gati Kwe - Package delivered severely damaged

Hello,

I made a courier through GATI KWE from Mumbai to Himachal Pradesh. The pickup was scheduled on *th October by Lord's International Packers and Movers and the goods reached its destination severely damaged on the **th October.

I did not opt for the insurance policy from GATI since the courier charges itself was over ***** INR. The approximate value of the goods couriered is ***** INR. So in a total of ***** INR is the loss incurred. Docket #*********.

On being called the customer care of GATI, they refused to lodge a complaint several times. On being called over and over they agreed to lodge a complaint, but then aren't responsive. They disconnect my call or refuse to answer. One of the representative who initiated the courier pickup said, "because you did not apply for an insurance we cannot compensate you". While I find this comment to be insane and stupid to a customer since there were no accidents or natural calamity occured wherein the goods might get physically damaged. The only reason is careless handling of the items which I believe is the sole responsibility of the company.

Since GATI doesn't seem interested to help, I thought of reaching out to the consumer forum for help on this matter. Please let me know your views on this and in case any further information is required.
