Makemytrip.com - Overcharged on booking compared to actual property prices

On ** Dec ****, I booked a holiday stay package through makemytrip.com and paid an amount of INR **,*** including a Service fee of *** allegedly the best deal on offer. On ** Dec ****, I discovered the same package available on the property website https://kudlebeachview.com at an all-inclusive price of INR **,***. It was for the same property, exact same room, dates of stay, meal plans and number of guests. An amount of INR *,*** less from the one booked through MMT. When I called MMT support to enquire and request refund of the difference amount, I was informed that this is a non-refundable booking so there is no refund in case of cancellation. When I explained that I do not wish to cancel my booking but requesting for the difference in amount be paid, the following excuses were given: The extra amount is the charge for using MMT service for booking the stay, implying that the difference amount INR *,*** is the extra charge I must bear over and above the Service fee of INR *** already paid for using the MMT website.
There will always be a difference in tariffs when you book a package online versus offline and that MMT is not responsible in any way for the difference or owe any refunds due to it. Here, both the prices were online with the lower one available directly on the property website. There was no offline booking at all. Properties set their own tariffs and MMT has no responsibility towards its customers for any losses incurred due to difference in prices. Although tariffs for a particular property can change depending on different dates, availability etc. in this case it was the same dates, same property and the exact same package under consideration. The only difference is that one was booked through MMT while the other available directly on the property website. Even if there is a change in tariff leading to a loss for the customer, it should be the responsibility of MMT to reimburse such difference promptly without any escalation. It's not like the booked package and the price drop happened months apart, the change in price was noticed the very next day.
The package booked is non-refundable and if you cancel your booking with MMT, there is no refund at all.
Effectively, as a customer not only am I duped out of my money by overpaying but am also being held at ransom in case I wish to cancel and rebook the package directly with the property. MMT is cheating its customers by advertising such deals on their site and then overcharging them. Any service provided should come with reasonable price protection but instead MMT is forcing the customers to bear the high price or cancel the booking and risk loosing the entire amount paid.
