I wish to highlight the arm twisting tactics of uber's operations. I had taken an uber last year in August and since I do not have a paytm, I had then paid in cash an amount of Rs *** to the driver when the trip ended. However, soon after I had got a message from their side that the amount was outstanding against that ride. I had written to their registered email id several times after that and after some time I stopped getting any response and the outstanding amount on my mobile uber app also stopping appearing. I therefore assumed that the matter had been settled.
Anyway, I took an uber again on **rd April for my ride to the airport. While booking the ride I was given an estimate of Rs *** approx for the ride and I proceeded to travel as per that. To my shock when the ride ended and I was to alight, the driver asked me to pay a total of Rs *** including the earlier outstanding amount. This was shocking and I refused to pay up since I had already made the payment for the mentioned ride. The driver called the contact centre regarding my refusal to pay up the “supposed” outstanding amount but the executive refused to entertain my request to talk and kept saying that the helpline was only for drivers and not for passengers. I was asked instead to write an email which incidentally I have been doing to no avail and despite which I was asked to pay up an amount which I have already paid.
Please note they have arm twisted me today into paying the amount since the driver refused to let me alight and I had to pay up or else I would have my missed my flight.
This is nothing short of hooliganism and it’s horrifying and shocking. I want answers to my following queries:
How is an aggrieved passenger supposed to contact them since you do not answer on emails?
How can they not take your concerned driver to task when I am clearly specifying on every single ride that I would pay by cash and that I have never had a paytm account till date?
Why did the total amount due while booking the cab show as only Rs ***? Had I known they had not paid any heed to my multiple emails and were still keeping the amount open, I would not have booked the ride.
They have refused to refund the money owed to me calling it an old issue,
