Agoda - Fake Property listing in Agoda

I am really shocked with the fraud I had to experinece while trying to book with Agoda.com. I am a regular customer of Agoda but have never experienced fake property listing earlier. Below is the detailed info on what has happened today.

I was looking at agoda.com to book an accommodation in Junagadh (Gujarat) for my upcoming viist in Sep (** Sep - * Oct). I booked the rooms for my planned dates as usual. On the property booking page of Kutchhi Bhavan Jain Dharamshala, there was a mentione of mobile number to call for booking confirmation - **********. Hence I called this number to ensure that my booking is confirmed. Person on other side introduced himself as Tushar Gupta and said that they don't do online reservation and this is done over phone. They had hence displayed the number of agoda.com website. He asked me to cancel the online booking and confirm on whatsapp the booking details and he will get the booking done.

I then cancelled the online booking and sent him date details etc. for my booking. He responded back with the payment amount and requested to transfer the amount to provide bank details which seems legitimate. I did the bank transfer as needed and sent him the screenshot. He called me to send my aadhaar details for booking and I did. Later he sent me the booking confirmation code and called me to follow certain steps so that I my payment receipt can be generated. That is where I got suspicious as he was asking me to go to GPay and enter the confirmation code in "amount to be paid" which I was not comfortable with. He tried to convince me that this is just a process to get the receipt and no more amount will get debited as I have paid in full already, they will enter some pin from their side which will link the confirmation code with the paid amount. I didnt agree to all that and said I am fine with collect receipt later in person. He agreed and we closed the call.

Later I tried to find more and got a landline number of that accommodation and called them. They confirmed that this said mobile number is a fraud and already some ** people have been duped due to this issue. They said they never do online reservations. They said that we have already complained to Cyber about this and this is going on since * days or so. It was clear that this is a cyber cribe and hence I am reporting this issue.
