I ordered a **” LG Tv on Amazon and it was delivered to me on *th Oct. One delivery boy was here to deliver a box of size approx *.* ft width x * ft height. Despite me insisting not to open the product the delivery boy said that as per Amazon’s open box policy he has to open the box and verify that the correct product in undamaged condition is being delivered, else he cannot give me the TV. I insisted again to let the LG team open the box as they will help me if there is any problem but he did not agree. Finally he opened the top cover of the box without getting the TV out from the bottom thermocole packaging and showed me the panel. The panel was not damaged and I was then asked for an OTP that I received.
The next day when the LG team came to my house to install the product, they found a dent on the backside of the TV. When I contacted Amazon they told me since I had shared an OTP confirming product is fine they cannot help me.
I am sharing pictures of the time of delivery. The individual was struggling to manage the opening himself and I was trying to stand in front of the TV so it doesn’t fall. How is Amazon expecting one delivery boy to open such a big box? As a buyer I was afraid of the TV getting damaged because only one person was handling it. I did not check the back side and bottom as we would have to remove the TV completely from the box which Amazon’s delivery team (* person) was not equipped to handle.
While the TV is working absolutely fine the fact of the matter is that I am not OK to accept a damaged product. The LG team of * people who visited my place for installation were also surprised that Amazon sent only one person to deliver the TV of such a big size and why they forced me to open the box.
What Amazon did is similar to a car dealer asking a car buyer to go under the car and check if everything is in order before taking car delivery as the customer will be responsible for any issues after the car is handed over. This is unfair, unethical and unacceptable.
I have spoken to the Amazon team again on ** Oct as I had received an email from them asking me to contact the Technical team who would help me but they just repeated that they cannot help since I had shared the OTP confirming product was fine.
I am planning to take legal action now as I want them to replace the TV.
