Qatar Airways - Charges for Insurance made mandatory for part of the group
Ibrahim Usmani filed complaint against Qatar Airways on Feb 2, 2024
This is in regards to the above mentioned Booking Reference Number. (My registered email id with airlines is Ibrahim.usmani@gmail.com and registered number is +************)
I was a part of ** member delegation representing India in a five day International conference in Doha, Qatar whose ticket booking and Visa was done by the conference organizers.
Seven members were travelling from Delhi, two from Hyderabad and one from Maharashtra. (All had separate tickets)
We were told that nothing is required from our end. I had purchased paid seat in Del-Doha and Doha-Del travel along with on-air wifi package as well.
On reaching the boarding pass counter at Delhi Airport, I was told that insurance is mandatorily required for travel which was categorically denied by the organizers as the they were the sponsor of the conference
I and one my colleague was denied boarding pass unless we purchase insurance. Unwillingly, we both purchased the insurance cover, however the rest of the delegation was waived off for this so called mandatorily insurance.
If this is mandatory then the whole delegation should have been denied boarding pass, but why only two were forced and others were not. I need refund for both the insurance payment as I had paid for both the person as the second person did not had any bank card with him
Also while returning, the airline was over booked and three of my colleagues were returned and booked on alternative after ** hours stay in Doha. I was charged QAR *** for excessive * kg weight while they should have seen that I am first time traveler on Qatar Airways and had purchased in flight paid seats and wifi and should have waived off. I need the refund for the same.
Also the Indian staff at Doha Airport asked me to go on normal queue although there was separate queue for those who had done web check in.
This is the escalation on Qatar Airways codeshare partnership with India’s worst airlines (Indigo) which was made in ****.
