Siva Prakash Rao Muntha filed complaint against Uber Cabs on Mar 18, 2018
On **th March ****, I took a Uber cab from CST to Seawoods. Paytm was selected as the mode of payment. On reaching the destination, there was a technical problem in the Uber App and thus the driver was not able to end the ride. We waited for some time for the App to open but it did not open because of which the driver could not end the ride. The driver asked me to pay the estimated fare of Rs.***.**. I refused to pay the required amount as I expected Uber to deduct the amount later from my Paytm account. But the driver kept on insisting that Uber will not deduct the amount as the ride was not getting closed. He even said that if Uber deducts the amount, it will be refunded once I explain the situation to them and continued to demand money from me. So I paid Rs. ***.** to the driver's Paytm account from my Paytm account. After some time (after * minutes), maybe the driver was able to end the ride and Uber deducted Rs.***.** from my Paytm account. I explained the situation to Uber and requested them to give me the refund. To this Uber refused to give the refund by stating that any transaction that happens beyond the selected mode of payment is not their responsibility. I again explained the situation to them and stated that the money was transferred to the driver via Paytm and I have the proof of that. But Uber continued to give me the same reply that it is not their responsibility and thus they cannot give the refund. I even asked Uber what a customer should do when the driver is not able to end the ride because of a technical problem in their application and is shouting for money. Uber is not replying to this at all. I even tried contacting the driver but he is not responding to my calls. I feel this is a cheating case and Uber is not taking any appropriate action to help me out.

My request is that Uber should make the refund of Rs. ***.** immediately and should also take the necessary action against the driver.
