Raja filed complaint against Swiggy on May 27, 2025
I am writing to file a formal complaint against Swiggy regarding an unjust and unethical cancellation fee charged on **th May ****.
On the mentioned date, my *-year-old son accidentally re-ordered a previously placed order on the Swiggy app. Since my Simpl Pay wallet was linked, the order was placed instantly without requiring OTP confirmation or additional authorization. I was alerted by a notification sound, and I cancelled the order immediately — within less than a minute of placement.
Despite such prompt action and the fact that no delivery partner had been assigned yet, Swiggy has deducted the entire paid amount of Rs. *** as a cancellation fee. They claim it is to "compensate the restaurant and delivery partner," even though no actual loss was caused due to the immediate cancellation.
I have repeatedly reached out to Swiggy for a resolution, but I am met with the same generic response and denial of refund. This is unjust and amounts to deficiency in service and unfair trade practice. My hard-earned money was taken without cause, and I believe I am entitled to a full refund and a written apology for the distress caused.
