Gionee - battery damage within 3 months

I bought a mobile name Gionee X*S. Within * month battery fully damaged. Went to the service center but they said that u have to pay money for the new battery. But the shopkeeper said that the warranty of the battery is * months. I didnt understand what to do. Please help me.
