- Wrong promises by agents customer support executive and flawed system to insure wearable Apple devic Open
Purchased an Apple watch and bought the * year - One Assist accidental damage insurance plan. The executives tell you (before buying the plan) that incase of any accidental damage to the device within the stipulated coverage period, the user will be eligible for free authorised brand repair / a replacement (new) product. Now, it is known that Apple does not repair wearable devices so the next alternative will be to replace the device. While the customer care executive claims the device will be brand new, the policy document states it will be refurbished. I have had calls with their department which they claim are recorded for quality assurance, where they are specifying the replaced product will be brand new. But the document specifies otherwise.
Now the twist, they update me on email saying that it is a total loss as it's unrepairable so I have to settle with a Beyond Economic Repair (BER) amount.
But this was always going to be the case for this specific product as Apple doesn't repair this product to begin with. And that was the assurance with which the plan was sold to the customer in the first place - that in case of accidental damage, you'll get a new replacement. This is a complete scam!
