MANOJ KUMAR filed complaint against Airtel on Apr 3, 2019
Post-retirement I was using Airtel pre-paid with unlimited call and * GB data at Rs. **/***. I lost my cell phone on *th Nov ****. Airtel service desk at Hariohm Tower, Ranchi issued me a SIM at Rs. **/- on *th Nov **** and assured activation in ** hours. But even after ** hours, it was not activated. When contacted, they informed that your mobile no. will not be activated since your father’s name is not there in KYC data. I told them that KYC data was generated by the service provider and in recent past, SIMs for the same mobile number was issued twice for the same KYC. It is your fault and you may add father’s name. But they refused and insisted to take a new number. Since this number was more than ** years old and was registered for all my transactions so it was essentially required for me. Then they told that you may get this number with post-paid and will be activated after verification of address & you may revert to pre-paid after three months. I waited for three days but no one visited for address verification. On enquiry, it was reported that on the basis of my excellent CIBIL my number has been activated. After three months they told that pre-paid will be done after payment of *th month’s bill. *th month’s bill was delayed and hence was unable to pay online. Then consulted service desk and paid *th month’s bill. Further, they told me to pay current months balance payment with * days advance amounting to Rs. ***/-. Out of ** GB of data every month only * GB was required for me & was utilised and as a result, accumulated data of *** GB was un-used.
In the above situation Airtel collected Rs. ****/- (post-paid) in place of ***x*=***/-(pre-paid) blackmailing my situation as under:-

KYC was created by the service provider and for the same KYC, SIM was issued twice in recent past but this time post-paid was forcefully superimposed by blackmailing to collect money in the name of the absence of father’s name. There was no verification of address even in post-paid and in the background of excellent CBIL even pre-paid SIM would have been activated. Thus I have been cheated/blackmailed by Airtel and need my excess money of Rs. *,*** ( ****-***) refunded back.
