I purchased my Dell **** Notebook in Delhi on **-Jun-** for the sum of Rs. *,**,***/- (Rupees One Lakh Two Thousand Only).
Within only * months of purchase, my laptop battery started malfunctioning, causing my laptop to heat up, and draining the battery within minutes. I raised a complaint with the technical support team (case no. ********). Upon an assessment on **-Jan-**, I was told that my battery is defective, and needs to be replaced. On **-Jan-**, the battery of my laptop was replaced.
* months later, I encountered an issue with my speakers and mic parts. I raised a complaint regarding the same (support request **********). After numerous follow ups and * technician visits, the speaker parts were replaced on **-Jun-**. The mic problem was fixed much later on **-Jul-**.
Apprehensive of more such future issues arising over time, I decided to purchase an extended warranty from Dell for * years, and paid a sum of Rs. **,***/- on **-Jun-**.
In December ****, to my surprise, my battery started malfunctioning again, despite having fitted a replacement only ** months prior. To my surprise, I was told that the terms of my warranty did not cover batteries and other consumables.
Despite my purchase of an extended warranty, I was asked to pay a sum of Rs. *,***/- to purchase a replacement, and also pay for onsite technical support.
I made the payment on **-Dec-**, and the battery was replaced for the *nd time.
** months later, in Dec ****, my battery started malfunctioning yet again. This time also, I submitted my laptop to the Domlur service centre in Bangalore, and as per their assessment shared on **-Jan-**, they said that "...the Assembly LCD and battery needs to be replaced."
This time, I'm being asked to shell out Rs. *,***.** for the necessary repairs. Co-incidentally, this has happened after the expiry of my warranty.
Given these facts, it is apparent that my laptop, and specifically the battery assembly and its related components, are defective by design. Despite my best efforts to take sufficient care of my laptop, it has repeatedly malfunctioned, and compelled me to pay for expensive replacement parts.
As of today, I have already spent Rs. **,***/- over and above my purchase price, and now have to shell out an additional Rs. *,*** (totalling to Rs. **,*** = **% of my original cost).
Moreover, I feel extremely disappointed (and cheated) to see that despite paying over Rs. * lakh for a premium notebook from a reputed brand like Dell, I am being asked to replace my battery for a *rd time in a span of * years, besides having to address other issues from time to time.
Given the aforementioned facts, I request the following actions to be taken to redress my grievance:
*. The current repairs are carried out as per the diagnostics shared by the Domlur Service center free of charge to ensure that my laptop is back to a working condition.
*. Once the components are replaced, I am provided a * year warranty (at minimum) on the replaced components (as opposed to the general ** day warranty period).
My laptop is currently in the possession of the Indiranagar service center pending repair.
