Me and my wife were stranded at new york jfk airport after virgin Atlantic refused to let us board vs-** on **th sept **pm. they said the ticket was exchanged by air india and we had no intimation of the same.
For a confirmation/solution we approached the ticket counter of air india which was empty, then had tried for * long grievous tense hours to reach the **x* air india call center, after which we were told to approach the ticket counter at jfk the next morning. i and my wife had to find a hotel room late in that night and stay near jfk for one more unplanned night which effected our leave schedule at our respective workplaces in India.
On returning back to the airport the next morning, we were greeted by the incompetent staff of air india at the ticketing counter, who instead of trying to solve the issue, just shrugged us away by giving us the contact number of the new york air India office.
On Calling the new york air India office and narrating the whole story they reluctantly booked us tickets after a blame game among their own staff, also refusing us of any kind of compensation.
Mr. Kamal Rao (Regional Manager Air India New York) had promised us business class or first class seats as a compensation, which we had told about to the staff (ground and air), who then were blunt enough to ignore.
Most of the air india airport staff and aircraft staff were utterly uncooperative and unprofessional. It’s a shame to see air india being the face of india in jfk airport nyc and how our country is defamed by their utter unprofessionalism.
We would like to demand compensation for the unplanned stay and food in nyc, the work leave schedule disruption, the trauma and tension caused by the uncertainty of whether or not we would leave nyc anytime soon.
