ASHBIN BRITTO filed complaint against Goibibo on Jan 12, 2020
On the evening of **th Feb ****, my relatives and I were enjoying the *nd last day on Hyderabad. But it didn't last long when my uncle received a call from the airline saying that our flight from Hyderabad to Bangalore has been canceled (* tickets) which I have booked through Goibibo one month back (*-*-****). Due to the Aero India show which is being held in the Bangalore airport which was announced one month back (**-*-****).
Our flight was scheduled on **th Feb at *:** pm and we are getting this information just before ** hours prior to the takeoff.
The flight which was canceled was a connecting flight from Hyderabad to Bangalore (flight no: I*****) and from there, Bangalore to Kochi (flight no: *E****).
So I asked them to arrange another flight to Bangalore on the same date. Even though I have to pay the same amount what I paid before, due to surge pricing.
But they said that all the flights have been canceled because of the air show event and they are helpless can't do much other than refunding the amount back.
Since then I didn't receive any information from Goibibo. I decided to contact Goibibo about this situation. But I was not able to connect with them directly through the phone.
So I checked our flight status using there **×* chat service. The status didn't show anything about this flight cancellation. I again got confused. I tried to message them about it. I didn't get any responses other than computerized messages. When I checked about the air show, I found out that it was true. So, as a backup plan, I booked bus tickets for my relatives. Luckily I got the tickets.
On Feb **th up to **:** am, I have checked the flight status and it was shown all ok. After that, I was finally able to contact a real person on chat service before * hours to the takeoff. After the conversation we had, he confirmed that the flight has been canceled. Still, I asked him to arrange another flight but he was helpless.
After all these incidents, I didn't get the total amount that I paid for the journey. I only got half of it. Because they charged a cancellation fee for another flight which left without us from Bangalore to Kochi.
We missed the Bangalore to Kochi flight because of the cancellation of Hyderabad to Bangalore and it was not our fault. I ruined the last day of my relatives on Hyderabad because of booking flight tickets in Goibibo.
In case I got information earlier I would have changed my plans accordingly.
I got insulted by my relatives at that moment and didn't get any service from Goibibo for which I have transferred money to them one month before itself.
I also didn't get my full amount back.
Due to all this, several additional costs like bus tickets and others came up.
Note: Due to surge prices, so many persons are losing their money also. The one who doesn't take insurance and all, are suffering the most I believe. A similar incident has occurred to my friend recently. That is the inspiration for giving this complaint.
