Ref Hotel Booking No. YAT**********, I had booked Hotel Hindustan International (HHI) Bhubaneswar from for * nights from March ** to March **, ****. I had come to Bhubaneswar as I had to take classes for MBA students from March **rd to March **th. However, on reaching Bhubaneswar, I came to know that the classes got cancelled as the institute has been sealed due to COVID infected cases. Hence I had no option but to check out on March **, **** inspite of checking-in at HHI on March **, ****. I had written a mail to Customer Care representative of Yatra.com to amend my reservations date. However, they responded back that this cannot be allowed.
I spoke to the duty Manager at HHI while checking out on March **, **** & was told that they are not authorized to make any amendments & I need to take this up with Yatra.com. On the contrary, I received a mail from Hotel Services Team of Yatra.com that the Hotel reservation representative of HHI has told them that amendment cannot be entertained.
To me the aforesaid stand of both Yatra.com as well as HHI seems highly insensitive & unprofessional as I was not on a leisure trip & this was not wilful cancellation. The booking guidelines suggest that in case of any cancellation/amendment, tariff for one night will be deducted. Since I’ve already stayed at the hotel on March **, ****, they should refund the amount (Rs **** apx) for at least two nights after deducting one night tariff for amendment. Also they can credit the refund in Yatra.com Wallet so that I can use it for future booking.
I didn't expect this kind of treatment from Yatra.
