This is Daniel Alonso, a Spanish citizen living and working in India. I am writing to express my complete disatisfaction with the poor customer support service we have received from Air India Express. After several e-mails, this is the only response I got from Air India Express:
With reference to your below mail, please be informed that as per guidelines issued by DGCA, Air India Express is not accepting Transit passengers and the same is mentioned on our website.
Also note that travel regulations keep changing frequently. It is the passengers responsibility to check for the recent travel information before travel.

Only airport taxes will be processed in this case.
They do not mention when will it be refunded or what is the amount or even why boarding denial (I tried to cancel the booking five hours before the flight departure but the PNR was blocked) leads to only airport taxes refund. Besides, I did not read any information regarding this regulation on airindiaexpress.com before booking. They do not even mention why vouchers are not available in this case as this cancellation occurred because of covid regulations. We feel scammed by AirIndia Express.
We are foreign nationals and the impression we get from this Airline (and about Indian regulations as well) is far from good
Besides, our grievances on airsewa were completely useless. The answers they provided were literally copy paste.
