Travolook - Money not being refunded

Travolook is a completely fraudulent operation. From an unfortunate personal experience and from what I have been able to gather in the last few weeks, their modus operandi will be clear from the following:

*) I booked * air tickets with them for a total cost of just under Rs.*K from their website on ** Oct ****. How I got redirected to their site is still a mystery to me, the booking was done in a bit of a hurry, I was under the impression I was on Yatra.com website!

*) Following the booking and online payment, I received a mail saying the booking is still not confirmed. Shortly, I receive a phone call saying the booking couldn't be confirmed as the airfares had gone up. Since the increase was significant, and since the booking wasn't confirmed at the rates at which I had booked, I requested them to immediately cancel the transaction and refund the money. I was verbally informed that it would take *-** days and which I protested, but they disconnected the line.

*) I received a mail from them the same day stating that the booking stands cancelled and that the money will be paid back in *-** days.

*) Although unhappy with the whole experience, I kinda forgot the whole event, and taking them at their word, assumed the money would get paid back even if a bit late. So much was the trust in the way we have gotten used to buying stuff online, that I took it for granted that the money would get paid back. It was only ** days later, to my utter shock, that I realised the refund hasn't happened!

*) I called their customer service and was politely informed that the refund is in process and that the same would get refunded in *-** days! The gall they have to say this after what they promised on the day of cancellation!

*) I realised that something was wrong. Immediately decided to record my unhappiness via email also keeping in mind that I may need to use this as evidence in the future.

*) I made several calls every few days and started recording the calls as additional evidence. It was clear to me that their intent was to delay the refund or not pay at all, despite their civil demeanour during the calls.

*) This is when I decided to go online and do some research on Travolook and what I found confirmed my suspicions! I shuddered when I realised that a huge number of other people had also got scammed in the exact same manner!

*) After reading about others' experiences, I began to put together a dossier of evidence to file among other things, a criminal complaint with the cyber crime cell, consumer complaints etc., write to the RBI and banking regulators to prevent them from using payment gateways to defraud unsuspecting customers.

**) Today is day ** and the refund is not in. I have given them time till end of the day to pay me back or face the full force of the law. My own refund apart, I want to see their operations audited and certified by appropriate authorities to be above board. Else, they need to be shut down.
