Nitin Nahar filed complaint against Air India on Jun 20, 2019
With reference to the booking reference no. Y*EY* for Air India Flight no. AI-**** (Jaipur to Udaipur) for travel date **-Jun-**** I received an SMS on **-Jun-**** at *.** pm from an anonymous number "+*** *********" that this flight stands cancelled advising to contact the Air India call centre.
However, when I called up the AI helpline (***********) the call centre agent told that there is no such flight status update in their system and the flight is still on schedule. I also send an email immediately but no response received. I also checked with makemytrip.ae through whom I booked this ticket and they also confirmed that the flight is on schedule. In fact, until the last *-* hours prior to the departure time both the Air India website and their Mobile App were showing that the flight is on schedule. If you look at the itinerary, you will see that the passenger (my **-year-old daughter) took a SpiceJet flight from Pune to Jaipur to catch this flight from Jaipur to Udaipur on the basis of this confirmation received from Air India website and their call centre. However, after landing at Jaipur Airport at *.** am when she reached the Air India counter for check-in around *.** am (after collecting her baggage), she was told that Air India Flight no. this flight is no more operating. The staff mentioned that this particular flight is getting cancelled since last *-* days. The staff at their Airport office even refused to make alternate arrangements and with lots of arguments in insistence from her side, the staff on the Airport counter issued her a cancellation slip so that we can claim a refund from Makemytrip.
They also refused to make alternate arrangements for my daughter as the next flight to Udaipur was only the next day morning at * am. Fortunately, we had our relatives at Jaipur so her stay was not a big issue given that she was all alone given her young age.
Left with no choice, I had to book her ticket for next day **-Jun-**** with an exorbitant fare of INR *,***/-. It is important to note here that until **-Jun-**** evening the same flight from Spicejet was available for INR ****/- and fare suddenly increased next day after the flight cancellation by Air India as obviously everyone who got affected wanted to travel. Hence, I would request Air India to take responsibility for this unwarranted situation and compensate us for the additional cost of Airfare and all the hassle my **-year-old daughter has faced who was travelling all alone.
I am very pleased with Voxya. They helped me resolve my issue without much hassle. Very impressed and satisfied.
