Subject: Harassment at Apple Store
Dear Apple Team,
I would like to bring up my unpleasant experience at your store which actually has resulted in regretting choosing to switch from Android to Apple Iphone ** pro.
Below are the details of the incident:
I happily purchased Apple Iphone ** Pro through your website www.apple.com/in on ** April ****. Subsequently the product was delivered to me on ** April **** (Apple Document Number: AH********).
Being excited with my new Apple Iphone, i wanted to purchase few accessories for my new phone, visited your authorised partner store along with my spouse on **-April **** at **** IST: APTRONIX UB-**, Bungalow Road, Kamla Nagar, New Delhi ****** (India)
I purchased tempered glass, Iphone Cover and Ear Phone totalling to INR ****.**
During the process when tempered glass was being installed on my phone, the shop boy (Kawanldeep Singh) offered me to check the demo phone and explain features. Reluctantly without understanding the true intentions, I took the demo phone (IMEI: ****************) which accidently slipped from my hand to the table (not fallen with impact but only slipped smoothly to table). The height between my hand and table was less than *-* inches. While taking the demo phone I was careful and even noticed that the demo phone was already damaged and cracked on the lower back side, which I highlighted to the shop boy.
When I highlighted the same the shop boy told me that we know that it is already damaged and it is only a demo phone which is also insured against all damages. He also accepted that this phone has not been damaged due to slipping from my hand.
In the meantime my own phone was done with back cover installation and tempered glass fixing. I was asked to pay Rs. **** which I paid to the store through my credit card at **** IST.
When I was about to leave, suddenly the behaviour of the staff changed towards me and the store guard and other staff started abusing and threatening me and my spouse. They suddenly started asking for money for a demo phone, which I had never damaged.
Despite my continuous pleas they continuously threatened me and my wife till **** IST and held us hostage in the store. This was a torture as they kept asking for my credit card security pin.
I requested them to investigate the matter and if I am found guilty of damaging the phone, then I am ready to pay. But my pleas were ignored. They also called a paid stooge/ actor to harass me as he started behaving / acting like a cop. I still doubt his identity as he never showed me his ID card despite my requests.
My spouse was threatened and humiliated by all male staff at the store and in my presence they made her cry with threats.
Ultimately, i paid them Rs. **,*** (invoice number:KMLTI****/***) which they were demanding at **** IST to ensure the safety of my spouse and self from goons at the store. I still don't know the basis of the charges asked from me but this was not the heavy price in lieu of my Spouse and my life safety.
My Questions to you
Is this the way Apple treats its customers?
Is there no provision for Women Safety at Apple Authorised Stores? Harassing and holding a female customer hostage in the shop till **** IST. What was the true intention of staff to start harassment when the market was getting closed and there was a lesser crowd in the market?
You claim of Apple Iphone ** series durability and endurance even on falls from greater heights. Can your iphone series damage by a smooth slip even when distance is less than * inches? Does that mean all your apple claims are false about the endurance of Series ** phones.
What is the basis of such charges levied on me? On what basis is the amount of INR **,*** charged from me?
Why is there no provision to conduct an inquiry on the fact that the demo was damaged before I even touched it?
Are your demo phones not insured against damages? If yes, then why was this charge levied on me?
I am hopeful of the justice and true spirit of customer delight from apple.
