This is in reference to invoice #Del-C-******
After having bought Gerard Cosmetics from US, I understood there would be the possibility of GST & Custom Duty due on receiving them.
I was however surprised to see an additional section for a duty advancement charge of rs. *** plus ** rs. gst on that
Since usa is outside of India, I of course will pay the Duty & gst due.
However, I want back my duty advancement charge of Rs. ***, since at no point was I made aware of, nor did I agree to, any terms and conditions which clearly stated that I would be liable for any such charges.
At no point in the transaction and subsequent delivery was any contract for duty advancement charge made between FedEx and myself.
Why would I pay this much advancement fee on the order of Rs. **** even custom duty and gst is Rs. ***
I paid the supplier for delivery, and would expect that any international clearance fees be factored into the initial cost of such a Shipment.
There reply was::
FedEx clears all courier mode shipment against the payment of duties and taxes if applicable upfront to the customs authorities on behalf of the consignee
FedEx does not detain packages for confirmation of payment of duties and taxes prior to clearance and duty advancement ***/- is charged for the same.
