AMRIK SINGH filed complaint against Air India on Nov 4, 2025
Date: November *, ****
To, The Secretary Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Government of India Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi - ******
Subject: Formal Complaint Against Air India for Unnotified Flight Cancellation (AI **** on **/**/****) and Demand for Compensation (₹*,**,***)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to file a formal and urgent complaint against Air India for severe deficiency in service and gross negligence leading to significant personal and professional loss.
Details of the Booking and Incident
Detail Information
Complainant Name Amrik Singh
Airline Air India
Flight Number AI ****
Scheduled Date & Time ** November ****, *:** AM
Route MUMBAI to Chandigarh (IXC)
Booking Application IXIGO
Cancellation Date ** November ****
The purpose of this critical flight was to attend a mandatory court date (witness appearance) in Patiala later that morning. My travel plan was meticulously scheduled to ensure arrival in Chandigarh by *:** AM, allowing sufficient time to reach the Patiala court by **:** AM – **:** AM.
Gross Negligence and Deficiency in Service
Failure to Notify: I was never informed about the cancellation of flight AI **** via SMS, email, call, or through the booking platform (IXIGO). This complete failure to provide any advance warning is a clear violation of consumer protection and aviation regulations regarding passenger rights.
Cancellation at the Airport: Upon reaching the airport at *:** AM on **/**/****, I was informed by Air India staff that the flight was cancelled due to an "operational issue."
Lack of Re-accommodation: Despite explaining the urgent legal necessity of my travel, Air India staff did not provide any backup or replacement flight. I was simply told that no alternate flights were available, demonstrating a complete disregard for my travel needs.
Mistreatment and Lack of Care: I was left waiting for almost three hours at the airport. During this entire period, the airline staff did not offer me basic amenities like a glass of water or any food item, causing extreme frustration and adding to the mental stress of the situation.
Impact and Demand for Justice
As a direct consequence of Air India’s negligence and failure to adhere to passenger guidelines, I was forced to miss my scheduled court date and witness appearance in Patiala. This failure has caused immense mental and physical harassment, put me in a precarious legal position, and resulted in unquantifiable stress and anxiety.
Given the extreme prejudice, mental anguish, and legal repercussions caused by this service failure, I request the competent authority to intervene and ensure justice is served.
I demand a total and immediate compensation of ₹*,**,*** (Five Lakh Rupees) from Air India to cover the costs, emotional distress, and irreversible damages resulting from this incident and the missed legal commitment.
I urge the Ministry to take strict action against Air India for this severe lapse in passenger communication and customer care. I look forward to your prompt investigation and resolution.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Sincerely,
Amrik Singh
