Today, my **-year-old father, a cancer patient, was in critical condition, unable to walk due to extreme weakness. I immediately contacted Fortis Hospital at *:** AM, requesting an ambulance. However, no ambulance arrived in time. After seeing how serious my father’s condition was, I had to physically carry him and rush to call a cab to reach the hospital

After reaching Fortis I was shocked to see four Ambulances parked there, despite being constantly pushed towards a “red ambulance” that costs ₹*,*** for just ** kilometers. Why was I continuously forced into taking this overpriced ambulance while my father’s life was in danger?

The lack of urgency upon our arrival was deeply concerning. Worse, Dr. Yogesh from the emergency department behaved aggressively and refused to give me his name, even going so far as to use abusive language, including the word “fuck” to my face. When I questioned him, instead of focusing on my father’s critical condition, he insulted me and threw me out of the emergency room.

Throughout this ordeal, I was interacting with Dr. Meenakshi, Dr. P.R. Sadhana, and the emergency team, but the negligence and unprofessionalism were evident throughout. For the past two years, we’ve trusted Fortis Hospital for my father’s cancer treatment. However, today’s complete disregard for an emergency situation, paired with the unprofessional and abusive behavior of their staff, has left me devastated.

Is this the kind of response we expect from the medical fraternity? When a critically ill elderly cancer patient is brought in, shouldn’t saving the patient be the first priority? Instead, I was provoked and insulted, as if they wanted to escalate the situation further.

I will be lodging an FIR against Dr. Yogesh and the doctors involved. I urge everyone to be cautious and aware of how such negligent practices and abusive behavior can happen at such a reputed hospital. I am tagging Bangalore Police Commissioner and Fortis Hospital to hold them accountable for this unacceptable behavior.

This is not the response of a doctor—this is the response of a goon, completely unbefitting of the profession that pledges to protect lives.
