Pradnya Thakur filed complaint against Spicejet Air Line on Feb 22, 2022
I am Pradnya Thakur, holding PNR - FJLTWB. I was scheduled to depart from Kolkata by flight SG *** to pune at *:**pm on **st February ****.
On checking in the morning on the flight day, I found out that this flight had already departed at *:** am.
I happened to web checkin this flight in the evening the earlier day. Till then there was no update in the revised timings. Also, neither did I receive any intimation about the preponed flight that was due to depart * hours before the actual time.
There was no way I could speak to any customer helpline as there was only IVR option available. The PNR on website showed that I am a NOSHOW passenger, without me being informed about this. The changes in schedule and timeline had affected hundreds of passengers who were supposed to board the flight on that day. Many of them were forced to book a new flight immediately.
I demanded a full refund and a compensation for being mentally harassed for the situation, forcing me to book another flight with a different carrier as there was no other flight from SpiceJet on the same day. Also the flight to nearest available airport Mumbai was scheduled ** hours later for which the helpdesk did not offer any compensate booking. They told they would charge full amount.
On contacting the airline later, they agreed for full refund but no compensation whatsoever. This is against their terms and policy mentioned on the website, wich says:
"Passengers who have not been informed as per the above provision(s), or missed a connecting flight booked on the same PNR number of SpiceJet flight, SpiceJet shall either provide an alternate flight as acceptable to the passenger or provide compensation in addition to the full refund of the air ticket in accordance with the compensation provided by SpiceJet, in addition to the refund of air ticket is mentioned below:
INR *,*** or booked one-way basic fare plus airline fuel charge, whichever is less for flights having a block time of ** hour or less.
INR *,*** or booked one-way basic fare plus airline fuel charge, whichever is less for flights having block time of more than ** hour and up to and including ** hours.
INR **,*** or booked one-way basic fare plus airline fuel charge, whichever is less for flights having a block time of more than ** hours."
SpiceJet is supposed to provide an explanation to this. If there is no compensation/ reimbursement of last moment flight ticket price, I will be forced to escalate this issue and make this public too.
