Our requirement for maid from BookmyBai.com was cleaning (sweeping, swabbing, dusting) for a * bhk house and cooking for a family of * adults + * small kids, veg+non-neg food within the age of ** years. BookmyBai team confirmed they had many maids meeting our requirements in Pune after which we paid them INR *****/- as service charges including GST
We are summarizing the issue we faced below:
*. First maid provided was Jyoti. She refused to do most of the work like cooking initially. We informed this to the coordination team who said that we will need to discuss with the maid only and make her work according to the committed tasks. We struggled with her on a lot of points, most important of which was that she was not talking nicely to our kids. But we were trying to make it work with her. However when a major safety lapse happened when she let my *.* year old child walk out of the kitchen with * knives and did not even raise an alarm, then we finally asked BookmyBai to take her back and send a replacement. We paid for Jyoti's to and fro commute and also provided her with clothes and snacks for the way.
*. In a span of * weeks after requesting for a replacement, BookmyBai shared only * profiles out of which the first maid refused to join. We did not want the second profile as she was ** years old and did not seem healthy during the video call. Then we started getting excuses that no maid wants to come to work in Pune as they all want to stay in Mumbai and hence they are not able to provide a replacement. They also tried to twist our requirement saying that we are asking the maids for baby-sitting job when we had made it very clear that we do not have any baby-sitting requirement, the only ask was that the maids talk nicely to our * small kids.
*. However when we did not get a single profile from BookmyBai for a long time we decided the go ahead with the ** year old help named Lina.
*. Lina joined as the first replacement. We noted upon her arrival that she had swollen legs and difficulty walking and standing for work. She asked for a holiday on the second day of her joining. On the *th day of her joining, her family members started calling and harassing us to send her back saying they do not want her to work. Lina left on the *th day of joining, and we had paid for her to and fro commute as well.
*. After Lina left, we kept following up with BookmyBai for a replacement and for the first ** days we were not given a single profile. After that we got * profiles, but both maids refused to join saying they cannot wake up at *:** to prepare food. After this, the agency started making excuses that no maid wants to wake up early and hence they are not able to find a replacement for us.
*. One maid named Sapna agreed to join on the condition that we give her a * hour nap break in the afternoon. We agreed to this along with the assurance that she can go to bed by **PM in the night. However, she put another big condition that she will join on a trial basis for a few days as she would like to see if she can wake up in the morning and whether she will be able to do cooking. For this we told the agency that even though we are not happy for anyone to join on a trial basis, we can let her come only on the condition that if she leaves immediately it will not be considered as a replacement. But the agency refused to agree to this so we did not go ahead with the profile.
*. After more than * weeks of constant follow-up and requests, we got one profile of a vegetarian cook. We had a clearly mentioned that we eat non-veg so we cannot have a vegetarian cook, but BookmyBai tried to convince us to take this option. This is absolutely unacceptable that BookmyBai was trying to make us change our food habits because they could not find replacements.
*. On every follow-up we were only told that the background team was working on our requirement but there was no outcome.
*. After a long wait, we got profile of Radha who agreed to come after the interview. Radha was the second replacement. However, within * hours of reaching here she said that her husband had met with an accident and hence she needs to leave. When we asked why she even came here, she said that she was intructed by her handlers/agents from BookmyBai to come to work and then leave within a few days. We paid for both ways commute for Radha too.
**. After that incident, again our ordeal of following up daily with the team began and for * weeks we did not get a single profile. We were given * more profiles after that, but interview could not be completed because of network issues on the maids end.
**. The last profile we got was of a maid named Usha who was not able to give proper answers and tried to twist the requirement that we are asking her to do baby sitting. When we confronted her, she said that she misunderstood the requirement. First issue was that she was unreliable from the word go. Secondly she had an aging father with no one to look after him, which meant her tenure with us too would be unpredictable. So we asked BookmyBai for assurance that if she leaves before a month of joining, then this should not be considered as a replacement but BookmyBai has refused to accept this or take any accountability.
We have paid for the registration amount in full, we have paid for commuting charges and meals for * maids along with salaries, * of whom left immediately after joining but BookmyBai is not ready to take any accountability or give any assurance.
We are working professionals with * small kids and it disturbs our schedule completely when a house help leaves without any notice. We have had to manage all our house work by ourselves as there was no replacement for long durations including taking leaves from work due to this. You must be aware that hiring maids on temporary basis is very difficult and a very expensive option. We have had to take on extra expense despite having paid a hefty amount to you for maid service.
Bookmybai team has only tried to fool us by trying to pin the blame on us for the maids not wanting to join or work. Here are a few solid excuses that we got from their team.
*. Within * weeks of us paying registration fee, we were told that maids only want jobs in Mumbai. They do not want to come to Pune.
*. They are not ready to work on **k, all of them are` demanding **k-**k for cleaning + cooking job. The salary expectation suddenly increased in less than a month.
*. They do not want to wake up early to prepare tiffin for my child. Maids do not want to wake up at *:** am, even after allowing a * hour nap break in the afternoon and more than * hours of sleep time at night.
*. No maid wants to work for us as we have * kids in the house. When the only ask from our side was that they talk nicely to the kids and given them water or food if they ask, it is considered as 'baby sitting' work.
*. Our contract promises * replacement but they said they have already given * replacements after the second replacement maid left. They have only provided * replacements so far.
Our experience with BookmyBai has been purely frustrating and traumatizing from the very first week. They do not answer calls or reply to messages **% of the time. Their staff's behavior clearly indicates that they are trained to fool paying customers and the way each of their maid behaves, it is very clear that they are coached to refuse to work and leave within a few days on some pretext so that the quota mentioned in the contract gets completed quickly.
They are not ready to provide any assurance.
We have been requesting either for an assurance on the duration that the maid will work only because * of the maid left immediately after giving false excuses and other prospective maids are also not ready to commit that they will stay for even a month. We have asked Bookmybai for refund if they are not able to provide us service to which they have not responded.
