I purchased an Amazon Basics refrigerator in September ****. The product was covered under warranty until September ****, with the compressor carrying a *-year warranty.
Approximately two weeks before the warranty expiry, the refrigerator stopped working. I had it inspected through Urban Company (formerly UrbanClap), and their technician informed me that the compressor had failed. Based on this diagnosis, I filed a warranty claim with Amazon seeking repair or replacement of the defective compressor.
However, Amazon closed my warranty claim without conducting any inspection or sending an engineer to verify the issue. They stated that the required parts were unavailable and offered a voucher worth ₹*,***, which I never accepted.
Subsequently, I raised a NACH complaint. Following this, Amazon increased its offer to a voucher worth ₹**,***. I initially declined the offer and requested a full refund. After prolonged and exhausting email exchanges, I eventually agreed to accept the ₹**,*** voucher as a settlement. However, after I communicated my acceptance, Amazon stopped responding, closed the NACH complaint, and never issued the promised voucher.
As a result, the non-functional refrigerator has been occupying space in my home for the past nine months. I have suffered significant inconvenience, loss of use of the product, repeated harassment through prolonged correspondence, and considerable mental stress.
I am therefore seeking an appropriate refund along with compensation for the inconvenience, mental agony, and hardship caused by Amazon's failure to honor its warranty obligations and settlement commitments.
