Summary:
I purchased an Apple Macbook Air M* but the model was silently downgraded by Apple without disclosing this information to customer.
This lead to degraded performance on speed. On requesting return with Apple Care, they're declining any sort of return request.
This is anti-consumer and a policy specific to India (they accept returns internationally). I would like them to acknowledge the intentional defect in their laptop and initiate a return ASAP.
Details of the issue:
I purchased a Macbook M* Air *GB/***GB from official Apple online store on *th July. I received the device on **th July.
Soon after purchasing the device, I noticed that the SSD (storage) hasn't been performing as well as it should. The read/write speeds were half that of previous generation despite it being the same model.
After researching online, I noticed that other reviewers have claimed the same.

It turns out that Apple has silently downgraded from * NAND chips to * NAND chip, causing severe degradation in performance. This crucial information was not disclosed to customers as it definitely would've impact the purchase decision.
This is even more of a problem as M* air uses unified memory, which uses SSD if RAM is full. However, with a slower SSD, it'll impact the performance of unified memory as well.
This is evident with heavy usage where the device constantly slows down. Further, my work involves heavy usage of SSD and any slowdown is not acceptable.
