Vasanth Ramachandran filed complaint against Indigo on Oct 1, 2023
I am writing to share a recent experience I had with IndiGo Airlines, an experience that has left me deeply disappointed and frustrated.
On **-**-****, I embarked on a journey with IndiGo Airlines, a flight I had booked two months in advance with great anticipation. My destination was Georgia Kutaisi, and I had eagerly looked forward to this trip for months.
To ensure a smooth journey, I took the proactive step of contacting IndiGo's customer centre well in advance. My purpose was to clarify whether I needed a transit visa for my layover in Abu Dhabi. Their response was unequivocal: I could travel without one.
However, upon reaching the airport, my excitement quickly turned into shock and frustration. To my dismay, IndiGo denied my boarding, insisting that I needed a transit visa, which directly contradicted the information I had received earlier.
Desperate to resolve the situation, I pleaded with the airline staff, explaining the predicament and how I had been given incorrect information by their very own customer centre. That time, The staff at the airport changed the topic, stating that Indigo doesn't have the authority to transfer to Abu Dhabi.
Also, Besides, I don't have any checked baggage. Therefore, I should be entitled to use the transfer desk and travel within the airside area.
The most distressing part of this ordeal was the financial burden it placed on me. I had to spend nearly *.* lakh rupees on new flights, accommodations, and additional expenses to finally reach my destination. This financial loss has hit me hard, causing significant mental stress and anxiety.
Losing *.* lakh rupees for my current flight and the connected flight is a staggering sum for any traveller. It's an enormous burden to bear, and the emotional toll on my child and me, stranded far from home in the middle of the night, was heartbreaking.
As travellers, we should not have to endure such ordeals due to misinformation and ambiguous "technical data." We deserve better from a trusted airline like IndiGo.
- Abu Dhabi airport information
Less than * hours We value your time spent at Abu Dhabi International Airport. If you have to wait for less than * hours between flights, we offer various services and facilities for you to relax and refresh. Will I need a UAE visa? You will not require a UAE transit visa if you are staying in the airport for a period of four hours or less.
