Indigo Airline - Denied boarding

I was denied boarding on the IndiGo airlines flight from Kolkata to Abu Dhabi via Kochi on ** Mar ****. The reason given was that I did not possess United Arab Emirates visa to travel to Abu Dhabi.

This was gross arrogance on the part of the airlines because of the following factors,
#*. As a permanent EU Schengen residency permit holder of the states, I was exempt from procuring a UAE visa before I boarded the flight. The following government site of UAE makes it clear that Indian passport holders with EU visas can avail of visa on arrival for ** days.

#*. The flight composed of two sectors- Kolkata to Kochi and then Kochi to Abu Dhabi. By denied me boarding at Kolkata, they violated my right to travel to Kochi as well, which was a domestic destination. As an Indian citizen, I have the right to travel to any Indian city- but Indigo airlines denied me even that right. They could have just given me the boarding pass til Kochi as I had a legitimate ticket. Well, they refused.

#*. My actual travel plans were til Copenhagen and Abu Dhabi was merely an intermmediate stop for less than * hours. I had no check-in luggage. The documentation for my full flight itinerary was furnished at the Indigo checkin desk. Denying me boarding on the flight to Kolkata resulted me in having to purchase a new one-way flight in Air India from Kolkata to Copenhagen and that came at a cost of Danish Kroners ****, equivalent to ~ Indian Rupees *,**,*** that Indigo airlines should compensate me for.

All of the above details was made amply clear to the person sitting at the Indigo airlines check-in desk at Kolkata on ** Mar ****. But Indigo refused point blank to listen to anything and denied me boarding.
