DTH or Direct-to-home is defined as the reception of satellite programs with a personal dish antenna in every individual home. It is quite different from cable TV, as the broadcaster directly connects to the user and there is no involvement of mediators like cable operators as in the case of cable TV. Moreover, the quality displayed is much more clearer than the normal cable TV. The most commonly used DTH operators in India include Airtel Digital TV, Dish TV, Tata Sky, Reliance Digital TV, Videocon D2H etc. The most commonly reported D2H complaint by customers include poor TV signal, channel not added, recharge related issue etc. So what can you do if you have complaint against your DTH provider? First and foremost you should raise your concern at the customer care number. As there is stiff competition among DTH operators they try their best to retain customers and thus resolve issues at the very first stage. However, many times the customer care executives refuse to help the customer much to the shock of the customer. So what can the consumer do in this case? It is to be noted that according to a new rule by TRAI, if the consumers witness bad/abusive behaviour by their DTH service provider, then they can report the incident to TRAI. You can call TRAI's at 0120-6898689 or mail them at das@trai.gov.in. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is the regulatory government body of telecommunications in India. If you still feel helpless, the next best option would be approaching your nearest consumer forum. The consumer forum is user friendly and is the least expensive option among others.
