stanza living - Unlawful Withholding of Security Deposit

I am filing this complaint against Stanza Living (Dtwelve Spaces Pvt Ltd) for their unethical and illegal practice of withholding my security deposit after I vacated their property. Their actions have caused me extreme financial hardship and mental agony.

Here is a timeline of the events:

Move-Out: I was a resident at Stanza Belhus House, Kumaraswamy Layout, Bangalore. I successfully completed my tenancy and moved out on July **th, ****, following all required procedures.

Withheld Refund: As per the agreement, my security deposit of **,*** was due to be refunded within **-** days. Also, this amount **,*** has been reduced to **,*** by subtracting *** for platform deboarding fees and *,*** for Recovery of damages, whereas there has been no damage from my side. It has now been well over two months, and the company has failed to refund my money.

False Justification: The Stanza Living app claims the refund has not been processed because my "current given bank details are not active." This is a blatant lie. I have repeatedly verified my bank account number and IFSC code, and they are ***% correct. This is clearly a dishonest tactic to delay the payment indefinitely.

Ignored Communication: After my initial attempts were ignored, I sent a formal notice via email on September **th, **** as instructed by my Resident Captain of Stanza Belhus House, Kumaraswamy Layout. I received a generic, automated response promising an "update" within **-** hours.

Failure to Resolve: Stanza Living failed to meet even their own deadline. They did not provide a resolution or the refund or even communicate back with some update within the ** hours they promised, showing complete disregard for my situation.

Severe Consequences of Stanza's Negligence:

This is not just a simple delay; it has created a crisis for me.

I am now facing eviction from my current house because I urgently need the deposit money to pay my current landlord.

The financial stress and constant follow-ups have caused me immense mental harassment and anxiety.

I have no other source of funds, and Stanza Living is directly responsible for my current housing instability.

Desired Resolution:

I demand the following from Stanza Living:

Immediate Refund: The full security deposit of **,*** must be transferred to my account without any further delay.

Compensation for Damages: I demand compensation of ₹**,*** for the extreme mental harassment, financial distress, and the potential of being rendered homeless due to their negligence.

Interest on Delayed Amount: I demand interest at a rate of **% per annum on the deposit amount, calculated from the original due date until the date of actual payment.

Formal Apology: A written apology from the company for their unprofessional conduct and the false accusations about my bank details.
