I ported my mobile number to BSNL on October **, ****. Since then, I have experienced a significant drop in network coverage in my area. Despite this, I tolerated the reduced service quality due to cost considerations and the anticipation of BSNL's upcoming *G services.
However, an incident last night highlighted the severity of the network issues. At **:** a.m., a transformer near my residence short-circuited, causing a power outage. I urgently needed to contact the TANGEDCO electrical department, but the poor network connectivity made this extremely difficult. After multiple failed attempts to make a call, I was forced to walk a considerable distance to find a location with sufficient network coverage.
This unsatisfactory experience has led me to conclude that BSNL's service does not meet my needs, particularly in emergencies. I therefore decided to port out to another provider. Unfortunately, my port-out request was rejected due to the regulatory requirement of a **-day minimum period before porting is allowed.
I find this restriction unreasonable from a consumer perspective. It prevents customers from switching to a service provider that better suits their needs, even when the current service fails to provide basic and reliable connectivity.
This same complaint has been raised through the public grievance portal (Reg., no:
DOTEL/E/****/******* ) and has been disclosed/closed twice (after an appeal).
