My name is Rajpreet Kaur and I am currently working at Sopra Steria, Sector ***, Noida, U.P.
I joined Sopra Steria on **th July **** and opened my salary account with HDFC Bank. My HDFC customer ID is .
On *nd October ****, I received message from HDFC bank that my current balance is Rs. -**,***.**. I was surprised to see that my balance was negative. I tried to log in to my netbanking to confirm if everything was fine. But, I never received OTP on my registered mobile number to login to my account.
I called HDFC phone banking to confirm if everything is in order. HDFC phone banking officer said that there is a credit card linked to my account and it's payment is still pending from last * months. I was surprised to know that there is a credit card with my name linked to my account.
I never requested/applied for any credit card. I never received any confirmation call from bank for any card. I never received any card at my permanent address registered with bank account. I never received any SMS nor any email on my registered mobile and email with the bank. I never received any OTP for any transaction. I never received any transaction successful summary. I never received any card statement on my address nor on my email. It was the
first time I got to know that there is a card linked to my account from the phone banking officer. I don't even know any card details (card number/CVV/expiry) because I never requested any card nor received any card from HDFC Bank. I asked for the credit card details such as transaction details/card number/card statement from the phone banking officer and I never received any details because the phone banking officer has only one static response, "Due to security reasons we cannot provide you any details. Your customer ID is blocked, we cannot see any details." But, I verified my details to connect to phone banking and i can provide any proof for the same, still I get the same response. When I asked what needs to be done next, for this too I get a static response, "Please make payment of your card and your customer ID will be unblocked". I don't own any card so why should I pay? In fact, I don't have any card details even to start any payment.
My customer ID is blocked and my balance is negative. My netbanking is blocked and I can't access my salary account anymore.
I registered several complaints with complaint number : *********** and ***********. Both the complaints were closed within ** hours without any resolution.
I registered a complaint with HDFC Bank on *th October **** with case ID: ******* and the expected case closure date was **th October ****. For this case, I received call from HDFC credit card department and I explained them everything. They didn't have any solution and they provided me same response as the phone banking officer, "Please make payment of your card and your customer ID will be unblocked." The case was closed on **th October **** again without any resolution.
My salary was credited to my account just a day before and my account was blocked within a day. The current balance in my account was Rs. **,***.**. On **th October ****, I received message from HDFC bank that all my balance was debited from my salary account for the payment of my credit card. My current balance in my salary account is Rs. *.**.
For this I would like to ask a question, I never registered for any standing instruction for any credit card. Is the bank authorized to deduct the amount from my salary account without my permission?
The card was never shown in my netbanking. The phone banking officer also confirmed that the card was not registered with the NetBanking and that's why I never got to know about this card.
If the card was never registered with netbanking and I never registered for any standing instruction, then how can you deduct the amount from my salary account without my permission?
Is this the way to treat your so called valuable customers?
I also received call from HDFC bank today i.e. **th Oct **** for confirming that the transaction was done by me. But, It was not with my will and HDFC forcefully deducted the money without my consent. When I told them the same, again they ignored it and hang up the call.
My family including my father, mother, sister and brother are dependent on me. I am the only earning member in my family. I have already exhausted all my savings in past ** days. I don't have any money left and the balance in my salary account is Rs. *.**.
This has also impacted my CIBIL score and I am not able to apply for any loans nor for any other cards to support my family in this case.
